This is a must-go every time my family comes to town! Our visits just aren't complete without a stop by here. We've been going here since they first opened. The raw oysters, crab claws, and fried oysters are why. No other seafood restaurant compares to here. The breading on the fried oysters are perfect and the crab claws and its sauce are one of a kind. They give generous portions so you definitely get your money's worth. The wait staff is amazing and so friendly. Definitely a gem in this small town and it never disappoints. I'm surprised Diners drive-ins and dives haven't featured this restaurant yet!

Now this was worth a few miles drive to get to, and it couldn't be easier to find. Right where the highway from Lafayette dumps you in the middle of town, there it is, right in front of you.

I'm not an oyster fan, so I had the crab cake - just loaded with rich crab - and the fried shrimp, which were as good as the menu said. Big meaty shrimp, with a truly light batter which enhanced and never overpowered the shrimp.

That being the case, what was wrong with the onion rings? Those, the batter did overpower the onion inside, and the onion itself was frequently stringy (from the part of the onion that's starting to turn into the skin).

But the crab cake and shrimp were good enough to ignore that.

Myself and my wife had the pleasure of dining at Shucks while traveling through Louisiana last spring. As a professional chef and CEO of the United States Chef Association I believe I know a little something about Cajun-Creole Cuisine. In my honest opinion, "These Guys are Good". We thoroughly enjoyed every course including an incredible Bread Pudding......... 5+++ Stars

My family has been going to Shucks for over 20 years. This is THE place for oysters in the area...hands down. During a recent visit home, we had an oyster blowout at Shucks like no other. Raw oysters, candied oysters, roughneck oysters (these were new and DELISH - charbroiled w/ cream cheese, jalapenos, and bacon!), seafood gumbo (simply the best), and fried oysters...my head is still spinning from the greatness of that meal. I am an oyster fiend, and their fried oysters just cannot be beat! We finished our meal with the bread pudding (they can split it for you in the back b/c it's a BIG portion), and I suggest you get that too. The owner may be the friendliest person ever and stopped by to ensure we were having a wonderful meal. He said the bread pudding is a 60+ year old recipe...it was perfect!

Lafayette people, make the drive to Abbeville for the best oyster dinner you'll ever have! It's absolutely worth it.

Shuck's offers a good selection of local/fresh seafood dishes. The atmosphere is very family oriented and there is something for every seafood loves taste. Whether it's just a couple or a big family, this is a great place to dine.

We recently dined at Shucks in Abbeville. It was recommended by a local and he was right!!! Raw oysters were very flavorable , the gumbo was what one would expect in that area of the country. The service was prompt and professional. And the beer was cold! Shucks was a great experience.

This restaurant has a sampler oyster platter that cannot be missed!! It is almost impossible to choose a favorite! The shrimp patty burger ordered my mistake turned out to be one of our favorite lunches!

We had a little bit of everything from the gumbo, gator bites, oyster's on a half shell to start it off. The Poboy was amazing and the fried seafood platter was great. We finished off with the amazing bread pudding and cheesecake. This place is worth a weekend drive. I would come back to the area just to eat here. I loved everything about. The food and service is top notch.

Decided to take the scenic route from New Orleans to Houston and stopped here for lunch. The traditional charbroiled oysters were amazing! Little bit of garlic butter with Parmesan cheese, so delicious! I had the the fried catfish basket, which was seasoned so well no condiments were needed. The staff were super friendly and we really enjoyed ourselves. Now back on the road. :)

Seafood is so awesome. I had the specialty seafood stuffed flounder. Unreal. The grilled oysters appetizer was spot on. The bread pudding for dessert was as good as it gets. I want one in South Florida. Crazy good.

OMGoosh !!! Friends took me here and HOLY Hell !!! Amazing !!! Raw Oysters, Gator Bites, and the Candied Oysters !!! Truly amazing food !!! Can't wait for the next time I return to Lafayette, shucks will be a return visit !!!

Great food, great service. When you put your name for a table, they take your drink order. The owner personally selected our choices which were perfect. You can watch them shuck the oysters and they'll give you a sample. Not to be missed!!

So many choices off of menu. Even had huge boiled crawfish at market prices. Of course oysters were ?.

Always stop by when we come to Louisiana. Great place to rely in when you're looking for good fried shrimp and raw oysters.

We stopped here for lunch during a trip because Google recommended it. So glad we did go. We got the soft bread shrimp po boys and they were delicious! The only discouragement was the glass bottle drinks instead of fountain sodas, but that wouldn't have stopped us from eating there.

We visited SHUCKS after the completion of blues man Albert Castiglia's latest recording at a local studio. The staff was incredible, giving us a history of the dishes served in addition to se great recommendations. This was truly authentic Cajun food, in the heart of Cajun country. We would definitely come back again !

Really good food, especially the oysters! They are cooked in several different ways. The sampler platter of grilled oysters is a must get. You get to sample the oysters grilled and seasoned in (I think) 6 different ways!!!

Awesome! LARGEST raw oysters I have ever eaten, HUGE!!! Great large fried shrimp with sweet potato fries, great. Get there early on the weekends as it fills up fast. Great service and good food always. Great for McNeese fans, former football player runs the place!
